The unnamed royal page is a henchman in the pay of Rodmilla de Ghent. He is particularly ugly and short, possibly symbolizing Rodmilla's deviously underhanded tactics for making Marguerite a queen. He is portrayed by Toby Jones.
Biography[]
He delivers the invitation to the ball to Rodmilla de Ghent and gets paid by her to spy at the palace and to report any information that might help Marguerite get closer to the Prince. He tells Rodmilla about the tennis match between the Prince and the Marquis de Limoges, and later, he orchestrates the theft of a precious pendant belonging to Queen Marie, enabling Marguerite to get into her good graces.
At the ball, he is knocked unconscious by Gustave with a bucket of dung, has his uniform stripped off him, and is presumably left half-naked in a ditch somewhere.
Personality[]
The royal page is cunning and willing to do anything for money. However, he probably does not get much attention from women due to his unfortunate looks, so he is susceptible to Rodmilla's attempts to seduce him, even though she is getting on in years and is rather bad at flirting.
